Tunisia: Democratic Current Rejects Violations of HPR Rules of Procedure By Rached Ghannouchi

Tunis/Tunisia — The political bureau of the Democratic Current stated Tuesday that it rejects "the methodical violations of the HRP rules of procedure by Parliament Speaker, Rached Ghannouchi."

It blamed him for the parliament's incapacity to assume its responsibilities and accuses him of "directing it towards an irresponsible conflict with the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, without taking into consideration the security and socio-economic challenges facing the country."

The party's political bureau expressed concern over the parliamentary landscape, characterised by political chaos and conflict, and which has deteriorated as a result of repeated violations of the HPR rules of procedure by its speaker, "supported by an undeclared majority in the HPR Bureau."

The democratic current denounces all forms of violence and chaos in the HPR's hemicycle aimed at setting up conflicts for electoral purposes that have nothing to do with the role of the House and its mission.
