South Africa: Woman Struck By Taxi, Left Seriously Injured

Eastwood — A woman in her 30s was left seriously injured this morning when she was struck by a taxi on Bishopstowe Road in Eastwood, Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 06h00 to find the woman lying on the side of the road near the taxi.

It is understood that the woman was found beneath the taxi but was freed by members of the community.

Medics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous fractures and was in a serious condition.

The woman was treated for her injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before she was transported to Greys Provincial Hospital for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
