Botswana: Parliament Goes Live

Gaborone — Live broadcasting of Parliament sessions on national radio and television commenced today.

A media release from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration states that live broadcasts will take place from 1400hrs to 1600hrs when Parliament sessions are on.

Thereafter, the sessions will be recorded for broadcast after the 2100hrs news.

The release further states that the historic decision is in line with government's policy of inclusivity, transparency and accountability.

"Live coverage of Parliament sessions will also have the effect of taking Parliament to the people," states the release.
