Tunisia: Ghannouchi, PM-Designate Discuss Preparations for Confidence Vote

Tunis/Tunisia — Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (HPR) Rached Ghannouchi had a meeting Friday at the seat of the parliament with PM-designate Hichem Mechichi.

The meeting focused on preparations for September 1 plenary to vote confidence in the proposed lineup, reads a HPR press release.

Confusion observed in the list of nominees was the central issue, along with the general situation in the country as well as major concerns and priorities for the next stage, the same source said.

The HPR Bureau decided to hold a plenary on September 1. The mistake made with the name of Mechichi's pick for minister of public works, housing and infrastructure was discussed.

The official document issued by of the Presidency of the Republic features the name of Kamel Omezzine, while that on the list tabled by the PM-designate is Kamel Eddoukh. A correspondence was sent to the Presidency to re-check and rectify.
