Zambia: Ephraim Chibwe Gets State Funeral

President Edger Lungu has declared today a day of national mourning in honour of former Cabinet Minister in the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) administration, Ephraim Chibwe who died last week.

Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti said the late Mr Chibwe had been accorded an official funeral in recognition of his contribution towards the re-introduction of multi-party politics in Zambia before 1991 as well as the development of the nation when he served as Cabinet minister.

Dr Miti said in a statement yesterday that the national mourning would be observed from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours.
