The Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI), and the International Renewable Energies Agency (IRENA) and the Energy, Climate and Green Growth Complex of the African Development Bank will host, on Wednesday, September 10, 2020, a webinar on the role of technological innovation and the digitization of the electricity system for a socially inclusive energy transition in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063.

The discussion will bring together international technical institutions, organizations, the private sector and civil society.

At the end of the webinar participants will:

Better understand he key role of energy transition plays in the post-pandemic period in Africa, towards sustainable development and improved resilience;

Discuss the crucial role of innovation and particularly digitalization of energy systems in energy transition; and

Identify strategic actions relating to renewable energy to stimulate energy transition and boost socio-economic development on the African continent in a sustainable and just manner.
