Angola: Covid-19 - Authorities Strengthen Preventive Measures in Cabinda

Cabinda — The increase in the number of police and security forces in the main streets and avenues of the city of Cabinda, in the large commercial areas and informal markets is one of the preventive measures intensified by the authorities, depending on the increase in positive cases in the province of Cabinda.

Data from the local report of the Provincial Commission for Contingency and Rapid Response of Covid-19 in Cabinda indicates 49 positive cases of Covid-19.

The 1º de Maio districts with 9 cases, Buco Ngoio and the Resistance with 5 cases each, are considered areas with higher rates of contagion.

In order to stop the spread of the virus, 21 health cordons have been decreed in all areas and perimeters with positive case records, putting 351 citizens in isolation, who for more than 14 days will depend on help from the authorities of Cabinda's municipal administration.

Cabinda province has 38 cases of local transmission, five imported from the capital Luanda, three imported from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and three imported from the Republic of Congo.

One recovery and one death are also part of the report, which has 47 active cases.
