The Ugandan government recently suspended the operations of 208 refugee aid organisations. The organisations were suspended over non-compliance with Ugandan regulations. Only 69 aid agencies are now authorised to assist Uganda's 1.4 million refugees. Uganda has a recent history of tensions with refugee aid organisations.
This comes at a time when the country's refugee crisis has worsened, thanks to the resurgence of violence in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
