Nigeria: Group to Govt - Expediate Work On Second Niger Bridge Project

16 September 2020

Asaba — A political pressure group, the Delta North Progressive Assembly, has called on the Federal Government to expedite work on the ongoing Second Niger Bridge saying that there was an urgent need to give reprieve to the present Niger Bridge linking Delta State and the South East region.

Dr Sylvanus Ebigwei, leader of the group who made the appeal to newsmen after an enlarged meeting in Asaba, said there is an urgent need by the FG to expedite action on the project to be completed in record time.

While urging government at all levels to vehemently reject the proposed Water Resources Bill, the group noted that it was not in the interest of the Nigerian masses.

The group, however, urged the Federal Government to immediately work out modalities to pay compensation to various individuals in Oshimili North, Oshimili South and Aniocha South Local Government Areas, whose farmlands and houses were destroyed by the construction of the Second Niger Bridge.
