A 17-year-old man was arrested on Monday evening for allegedly stabbing his love rival to death in Endebess, Trans Nzoia County.

The suspect, Tyson Wafula - a Ugandan - was arrested at Suam area while trying to cross the border into the neighbouring country after the incident.

According to Endebess police boss, Salesioh Murithi, the incident happened as the suspect's former wife, Pauline Nelima, 17, was visiting her brother, Jared Wekesa, while accompanied by her new husband, Emmanuel Kyalo, 19, in Famia Village in Chepchoina Location, Endebess Sub-County.

"While on their way at around 2pm, they were attacked by the suspect who ambushed them on the road," said Mr Murithi.

Died on the spot

He said the suspect stabbed Nelima's husband in the chest and stomach with a knife. He died on the spot.

The woman was rescued by members of the public after she raised the alarm, prompting her former husband to flee the scene.

"The suspect was later arrested by the police," the OCPD told the Nation.

The dead man's body was moved to Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary.

The suspect, who is being held at Endebess Police Station, is expected to appear in court to face a pre-meditated murder charge.
