Angola: Energy and Water Meter Factory to Create Over 500 Jobs

Luanda — More than 500 jobs are expected to be set up by the future electricity and water meter manufacturer in Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) through the Hengie-Electronics Industria S.A.

With an investment of more than 20 million US dollars, the factory will be built in a 15,000 square meters, Angop has learnt.

The manufacture's production capacity will be of 319,000 single-phase energy meters and 19,000 three-phase energy meters and 100-200,000 water meters per year.

In the first phase, 350 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs will be created, and when the plant reaches its peak of production capacity, it will have more than 400 direct jobs and 200 indirect jobs, being 95 per cent of the jobs to be occupied by Angolans.

Hengye - Electronics Industria S.A, is a subsidiary of the Chinese company Zheijiang Hengye Electronic Co., Ltd, a company under Angolan law, focused on the manufacture of water and energy meters.
