Luanda — Angola received on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at least eighteen tonnes of various biosafety material, donated by the Russian Federation, within the framework of cooperation between the two states, to prevent and combat the covid-19, a pandemic the country and the world have been facing since the beginning of the year.
The cargo, which arrived last Wednesday morning, consists essentially of five thousand molecular biology tests (RT-PCR) and about 33,000 litres of gel alcohol, ANGOP learned from the Interministerial Commission for the Prevention and Combat against the Pandemic.
Of this batch, there are also 1.5 million surgical masks, 13,000 biosafety suits, as well as surgical goggles and visors, said the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.
The event took place at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport and was witnessed by the secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, and on behalf of the Russian Government was its Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, accredited to Angola, Vladimir Tararov.
In the framework of preventing and combating the covid-19 pandemic in the country, carried out by the Angolan Government, the country has already benefited from this type of aid from China, from the Jack Ma Foundation, from Morocco, Egypt, Qatar, South Africa and Portugal.
