As of October 31, the confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries have reached 1,785,483. Reported deaths in Africa have reached 42,853 and recoveries 1,455,115. 287,513 cases are currrently active and 16,796,546 tests have been performed.
South Africa has the most reported cases - 725,452, with deaths numbering 19,276. Other most-affected countries include Morocco (219,084), Egypt (107,555) Ethiopia (96,169), Nigeria (62,853) and Libya (61,095).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
