THE Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) says the support of commercial banks towards local contractors has declined because the construction sector is now considered a high-risk field.
BAZ chief executive officer Leonard Mwanza says locked-up capital resulting from delayed payments for some companies undertaking public projects has rendered the construction sector a high-risk field for banks.
