Gaborone — China's state councillor and minister of foreign affairs, Mr Wang Yi, will undertake an official visit to Botswana this week.
According to a media release from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation,Mr Wang's visit takes place in the context of China's 30-year tradition of Chinese foreign ministers undertaking visits to select African countries in January of every year.
The release further states that the visit also coincides with the 46th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The release says while in the country, Mr Wang will pay a courtesy call on the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and meet with the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Lemogang Kwape.
It is expected that the officials will exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest including a discussion on ways and means of further deepening and expanding bilateral cooperation.
