As President Biden made clear in his remarks today, it is a new day for USAID, the United States, and the world.

Moral leadership must be the foundation of U.S. foreign policy. International development assistance is an instrumental tool in promoting U.S. national security interests, restoring U.S. moral leadership, and demonstrating American values. USAID is ready to lead the global response to multiple crises we face today, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and threats to democracy and human rights.

As our assistance proclaims "from the American people," USAID programming promotes American interests and advances America's role as a leader on the global stage. Our foreign assistance helps build a safer and more prosperous world, which in turn leads to a safer, more prosperous America.

USAID has the tools and the expertise to lead. Our passionate, dedicated staff is committed to doing this hard work on behalf of the American people. As we enter our 60th year in existence, we will continue our work saving lives and advocating for those facing hunger and poverty around the globe.
