Francistown — The Measles Rubella Campaign that started in earnest beginning of February is reportedly proceeding well in Francistown.
The campaign, undertaken on a five-year cycle, targets children aged nine to 59 months.
The theme for this year's campaign, expected to end February 12 is 'Vaccinated Communities, Healthy Communities'.
Greater Francistown DHMT Senior Nursing Officer Ms Sekani Chikunyana, who is also the head of Preventative Services, told BOPA in an interview Tuesday that parents were coming in droves to have their children immunised.
She attributed the high turnout to the Ministry of Health and Wellness' community mobilization that started last year.
"Mind you, this campaign was supposed to have taken place in 2020 but the advent of COVID-19 threw a spanner in the works," she said.
Ms Chikunyana said immunisation spots had been created in an effort to decongest the 39 facilities under Greater Francistown DHMT.
"We have also engaged the services of volunteers in this campaign and this has made the entire crusade a success," she said.
