Africa: Total Number of Covid-19 Cases Across Continent Nears 4 Million

Cape Town — As of March 8, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 3,964,055.

Reported deaths in Africa reached  105,713  and  3,540,095  people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases -  1,521,068  - and  50,678  people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco ( 486,223 ), Tunisia ( 237,704 ), Egypt ( 186,503 ), Ethiopia ( 166,138 ), and Nigeria ( 158,506 ).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
