Tunisia: Gender - Aswat Nissa Makes Recommendations to Parliamentary Women's Affairs Committee

Tunis/Tunisia — Aswat Nissa organisation on Monday, made a set of recommendations to the Committee on Affairs of Women, Family, Children Youth and Elderly People, to support the implementation of policies on gender.

Executive director of the organisation Sarra Ben Said called to ensure better coordination between the different committees when examining bills on gender.

This includes the approval of Tunisia's accession to the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, she said at a hearing session by the Committee at the House of People's Representatives (French: ARP).

She also called on the committee to make further efforts to oversee the enforcement of law on combating violence against women, as well as monitoring the state budget on the gender approach.
