Nigeria: Released Kaduna College Students Yet to Meet Parents

One day after five students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka in Kaduna State were recovered, parents of the students have said they have neither met nor been told the identities of the released students.

Daily Trust reports that the Kaduna State Government on Monday announced that five of the 39 students abducted from the school dormitory on March 11 2021 had been recovered by the Nigerian army.

Though the state government did not give details of how the students were recovered, it stated that they were undergoing medical check-up at a military facility.

However, Daily Trust gathered that the families of the students have besieged the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna with the hope of seeing the released students but were not given access.

Speaking to correspondent, one of the parents who is also the Secretary of the parent's group, Friday Sanni said the parents had visited 1 Div Nigerian Army again on Tuesday morning but were urged to be patient.

"We don't know the identity of those released yet, we have visited the 1Div and we were told that when they are done, they will let us know," he said.

Daily Trust reports that the five students were released 25 days after gunmen had on March 11th 2020 breached the perimeter fence of the institution at Afaka, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state and abducted 39 students.
