Kenya: Jennifer Wambua Murder - Police Arrest Third Suspect

Police have arrested a third suspect as the hunt for the killers of former National Lands Commission (NLC) Jennifer Wambua continues more than a month after she was murdered.

Detectives attached to the Homicide Department of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) picked the suspect from his house at Embulbul in Ngong, Kajiado County on Tuesday night.

The businessman was identified as one of the people seen with Ms Wambua after the interrogation of two other suspects who were arrested on Thursday last week.

Benjamin Saitoti and David Sempuan had presented themselves to Nyumba Kumi officials and elders at Kerarapon, Ngong saying they had seen Ms Wambua alive at the spot where her body was found.

The elders immediately informed the DCI who arrested Mr Saitoti who is a bodaboda rider in the area and Mr Sempuan, a herder.

On interrogation, the two said they had seen a man together with Ms Wambua and even talked to them before leaving at about 5pm. That was on March 12, the same day that the former journalist left her work place at Ardhi House, Nairobi, never to be seen alive again.

Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi has granted the DCI permission to hold all the three suspects in order to give them time to investigate the case until April 26 when the matter will be reviewed.
