Tunisia: Gabes-Covid-19 - Metouia and Oudhref Delegations Cordoned Off

Tunis/Tunisia — The delegations of Metouia and Oudhref (governorate of Gabes) will be cordoned off from April 19 to 30, the Local Committee to Combat the Coronavirus decided at a meetingattended by the local governor and mayors Monday.

This temporary decision was made as the region has witnessed a spike in the number of positive cases as well as the degradation of the epidemiological situation in the these two delegations.

The committee also said traffic from and to these two delegations as well as gatherings and festivities will be banned.

Hammams (Turkish bathrooms), midhas (ablution rooms in mosques), amusement arcades, kindergartens, Coranic schools and weekly markets will be shut down and Friday and Tarawih prayers will be suspended.

Friday, Isha and Tarawih prayers in the mosques of Gabes, West Gabes, South Gabes and Ghannouch will be banned, the committee further said.

On the other hand, COVID-19 screening campaigns will be stepped up in these two regions, the same source said.
