Tunisia: Tourism Minister Stresses Need to Develop Strategy to Improve Performance of Tourist Offices Abroad

Tunis/Tunisia — Minister of Tourism Habib Ammar, on Monday, stressed the need to develop a strategic plan, as soon as possible, to improve the performance of the tourist offices abroad.

He was speaking at a working session to examine the role of the tourist offices overseas, in the presence of Director General of Tunisia's National Tourist Office (ONTT) Mohamed Moez.

The minister affirmed the necessity to submit the process of appointing the representatives of tourism abroad to precise scientific, economic and academic criteria, which fit with clear objectives.

It is essential to review the field of intervention of these offices, their governance, etc., as well as to reduce their expenses, Ammar added.

Participants in the meeting displayed data on the role of the tourist offices abroad, particularly with regard to promoting Tunisian destination, said a statement by the tourism department.

They also presented the future orientations for the development of these offices, especially those based in traditional markets.
