Tunisia: AFD Launches Fund for Innovation in Development

Tunis/Tunisia — A new Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) has been launched by the French Development Agency (AFD) since December 2020, AFD reminds on Tuesday.

Funding is granted on flexible terms. Several grant levels are set up and take into account all stages of implementing innovation starting from project preparation (up to 50 thousand euros), to the pilot stage (up to 200 thousand euros),then to the test and position for scale stage (up to 1.5 million euros), until reaching the transition to scale (up to 4 million euros).

The Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) is an initiative that supports innovations in the service of the fight against poverty and inequality in the world. It prioritizes any solutions boosting development in a more efficient, rapid or cost-effective manner than existing approaches.

The FID supports innovations in the fields of education, health, climate change and gender equality.

It targets all types of structures in low and middle income countries, namely research centers, NGOs, private companies...

More particularly, the FID encourages partnership approaches in consortia.
