Angola: Zaire Government Terminates Contract With Building Companies

Mbanza Kongo — The Provincial Government of Zaire has terminated the contract for the construction of two schools as part of the Integrated Intervention Plan in Municipalities (PIIM) in the Nzeto district, due to the incapacity of the construction company.

These are two schools with seven and 12 classrooms, whose works are budgeted at Kz 95.5 million and Kz 157.3 million, respectively, that were being built in the Kinanga neighbourhood (periphery of the town) and in the locality of Kimakuku, Kindege commune.

The projects began to be built between the months of May and June 2020, with completion scheduled for the month of December of the same year.

Speaking to the press in Soyo, the governor of Zaire, Pedro Makita Armando Júlia, said that the termination was due to the inability of the contractor to carry out the work, which since the consignment of the work has done nothing of significance.

The governor said that the Zaire provincial government had already hired another company that would continue with the process of building the two schools.

He also announced that the provincial government is also considering, in the next few days, terminating contract with a contractor in charge of building a school in the commune of Lufico, municipality of Nóqui.
