Tunis/Tunisia — President Kais Saied, Speaker of the House of People's Representatives Rached Ghannouchi and Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi on Wednesday extended their greetings to the Tunisian people on Eid al-Fitr.
In an address broadcast live on the public channel Al Wataneya 1, the head of state called for the revision of some measures related to the fight against the coronavirus, saying that these measures have not achieved the expected objectives.
President Kais Said also prayed Almighty God to help the Palestinians recover their "despoiled" land and return of Al Aqsa Mosque, wishing the Tunisian people and the Islamic nation "victory and more progress and prosperity".
In his speech on Eid al-Fitr, Premier Hichem Mechichi spoke about the difficulties encountered by Tunisia, justifying the measures taken recently to curb the coronavirus pandemic by the surge in the number of infections and deaths. "The health of Tunisians is a priority," he insisted.
For his part, Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi said he hoped for a rapid return to normal life for Tunisians and economic recovery after the crisis caused by the new coronavirus.
Ghannouchi hailed the resistance of the Palestinians, calling on Arab and international parliaments and all forces of the world to stand by the Palestinian people.
