Tunisia: Mechichi Announces Set of Measures for Benefit of Covid-19 Pandemic Victims

Tunis/Tunisia — A set of measures for the benefit of the COVID-19 pandemic victims were announced by Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi in his address to the Tunisian people on the occasion of Eid el Fitr.

These measures are to:

- Earmark five thousand credits worth 5,000 dinars, interest-free, with advantageous repayment conditions in addition to a one-year grace period for the benefit of merchants whose activities are directly linked to the Eid feast.

-Support economic activities most affected by the recent measures through direct financial assistance. These activities will be identified later by the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of Economy and Finance.

-Postpone the employers' contributions for the second quarter of 2021 and to make an adjustment throughout the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021.

-Postpone the payment of the flat tax until the end of 2021 without penalty for small merchants and craftspeople registered in the flat-rate tax system.
