This is the first of a series of four briefs on health expenditure in the public and private sectors. This brief discusses the Compensation Fund and the Road Accident Fund. When analysing South Africa's health expenditure, often ignored are the Compensation Fund, which covers workers occupational diseases, injuries and death, and the Road Accident Fund, which covers anyone injured in a vehicle collision.
