Tunisia: Jerandi to Take Part in Doha Arab League Meetings Tuesday

Tunis/Tunisia — President Kais Saied has tasked Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi with leading the Tunisian delegation to the Arab League meetings in Doha (Qatar).

Jerandi will take part in the consultation meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the extraordinary session of the Council of the Arab League convened by Egypt and Sudan on the case of the "Renaissance Dam" which is a source of tension between these two countries on the one hand, and Ethiopia on the other.

The Minister will also attend the first meeting of the ministerial committee that will consider measures to be jointly taken to support the Palestinian cause.

He will have meetings with his Arab counterparts in addition to the Secretary General of the Arab League.

Jerandi Last week discussed by phone with his Algerian and Egyptian Libyan counterparts regional and international issues of common interest, especially those on the agenda of the Arab foreign ministers' meeting.

Egypt and Sudan believe that Ethiopia's construction of a dam on the Blue Nile, the largest hydroelectric power project in Africa, threatens their water supply. All attempts at reconciliation and accord between the three parties have so far failed.
