Nigeria: What You Need to Know About Niniola, the Queen of Afrohouse Music

Born Niniola Apata and now famous just a Niniola, she is Nigeria's Queen of Afro house music.

Niniola grew up in polygamous homestead thus a clear indication of shared love among siblings and her three mothers.

For Niniola, she started singing back in high school amongst her friends who helped build her confidence and self belief.

After school, Niniola partook in various music competitions to audition but got fair share of rejection. But all the rejection seemed to make her stronger in her pursuit to jump start her music career.

She had the chance to audition for 'West Africa Idol' but got one yes and two no's, an indication that she would not go to the next level. When she almost gave up on her music after another rejection on the X Factor Nigeria, she auditioned for 'Project Fame West Africa " and this time she went through the competition and emerged fourth.

Since then she went out to make great hits that have since sold big internationally. In 2017, she made her biggest song was "Maradona"; a hit that was featured in Beyonce's "Lion King's' tracks.

Till date, she enjoys the accolade of being among Nigeria's top female music star.
