Africa: Covid-19 Cases Exceed 5,4 Million Across Continent

Cape Town — As of June 28, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 5,412,258 while over 32,500,561 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.

Reported deaths in Africa reached 141,118 and 4,700,374 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases 1,928,897 and 59,900 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco (529,676), Tunisia (407,017), Egypt (280,394), Ethiopia (275,935), Libya (192,470) and Kenya (182,597).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
