In her first public engagement as the African Development Bank's incoming Vice President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development, Dr. Beth Dunford will deliver the keynote speech at the launch of the Alliance for Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) Agribusiness Deal Room, a matchmaking platform that connects close to 4,000 stakeholders from Africa's agriculture eco-system to facilitate partnerships and investments.

The AGRF, in conjunction with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), is launching the fourth edition of the Agribusiness Deal Room, as it focuses on addressing challenges in agricultural lending to small and medium enterprises in agriculture and other vital sectors in Africa. The online event takes place Tuesday, 29 June 2021 from 1:00pm-2:30pm GMT.

Dr. Dunford, whose appointment is effective 1 July 2021, will be responsible for the Bank's strategy, lending and other activities in agriculture, water and sanitation, education, and health, as well as the Bank-wide work on employment and gender equity.

The Bank is one of four core partners who delivered the Agribusiness Deal Room in 2019, and is one of 24 Agribusiness Deal Room partners that bring complementary capabilities, resources, and networks to the platform.

Other scheduled participants include: Dr. Agnes Kalibata, President of AGRA, Special Envoy to the UN Food Systems Summit;Dr. Donal Brown, Associate Vice-President, Programme Management, IFAD; Dr. Jim Barnhart, Assistant to the Administrator, Bureau for Resilience and Food Security, USAID; Ken Ofori - Atta, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Ghana; Jennifer Baarn, Acting Managing Director AGRF & AGRA Head of Partnerships and Atsuko Toda, Director for Agriculture Finance and Rural Infrastructure Development, African Development Bank.

The session will be moderated by Vanessa Adams, Vice President, Strategic Partnerships Division and COP, PIATA, AGRA.
