Africa: Continent Nears 6 Million Confirmed Cases of Covid-19

Cape Town — As of July 13 confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 5,984,572 while over 37,004,431 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.

Reported deaths in Africa reached 152,406 and 5,177,733 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases 2,206,781 and 64,509 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco (543,119), Tunisia (501,923), Egypt (283,212), Ethiopia (277,137), Libya (206,769) and Kenya (188,942).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
