Zambia: Socialist Party Candidate Found Dead, Body Burnt

One of the youngest political aspirants in the August elections aged 29 has been found dead in a remote area of Kapiri Mposhi. Police said yesterday they had recovered the charred remains of Stallon Chobe who was vying for the position of council chairperson for the Chisamba seat on the Socialist Party ticket. Central Province police Commissioner Chola Katanga said in a statement that Mr Chobe's throat appeared to have been slit throat before his body was set ablaze by unknown attackers.
