Tunisia: Gabes Logs Eight More Fatalities of Coronavirus, 30 New Infections

Tunis/Tunisia — Eight people have died of the coronavirus during the last 48 hours in Gabes, where the death toll reached 499, said Director of Preventive Health in Gabes Yahia Hamdi on Thursday.

Another 30 people tested positive for the virus in the governorate, after publishing the results of 77 tests, taking the case tally in the governorate to 16,823.

The new positive cases are distributed as follows: 15 cases in South Gabes, 6 in Gabes City, 4 in West Gabes, 3 in Ghannouch, 1 case in Mareth and 1 in Nouvelle-Matmata.

There are currently 1,292 active carriers of the virus in the region, including 76 hospitalised, of whom 11 are admitted in intensive care.
