Tunisia: Ennahdha Supporters Try to Force Their Way Into Parliament, in Vain

Tunis/Tunisia — Supporters of Ennahdha party, on Monday, gathered outside the outer gate of the Bardo Palace and tried to force their way into parliament.

Security forces prevented them without resorting to force, TAP reporter said.

Dozens of Ennahdha supporters condemned the «coup against legitimacy» and chanted slogans against journalists.

On the other hand, a group of young people continued to demonstrate in front of the Parliament in support of President Saied, welcoming the decisions announced on Sunday evening during an address to the Tunisian people.

They called for the prosecution of MPs and members of the government involved in corruption.

President of the Republic Kais Saied on Sunday evening decided to freeze the Parliament, lift the immunity of all MPs, sack the PM and assume, personally, the prosecutor's office.
