Angola: Usa Follows With Satisfaction Fight Against Corruption

Dondo — The United States of America's ambassador to Angola, Nina Maria Fite, said Tuesday in Dondo, Cuanza Norte province, that her country was following the fight against corruption launched by the Angolan government with satisfaction.

The diplomat, who was speaking at the end of a 48-hour visit to Cuanza Norte, suggested that this fight should be lowered to lower levels, in order to make it more effective.

Alongside the fight against corruption, Nina Maria Fite also stressed the importance of debureaucratisation of public services as another of the essential factors to ensure the confidence of foreign investors in the country.

"We are aware of the actions taken by the Angolan government, but we want to add, for example, the speed of administrative procedures, without the need for intermediaries or the exchange of favours for the official to process documents in order to obtain opinions," she said.

She said that improving these aspects would contribute to a greater presence of businesspeople from across the world, including from the United States, which would drive Angola's development.
