Tunisia: Eleven Illegal Migration Attempts Thwarted, 188 Pulled From Sea (Interior Ministry)

Tunis/Tunisia — Eleven illegal migration attempts were foiled over the weekend (Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1) and 188 crossers were pulled from the sea by coasts guards in the north, the midland, the Sahel and the south.

The survivors include 56 African nationals who "refused to comply with orders to stop and continued their way to European shores," the Interior Ministry said on Sunday.

National guards in Sfax, Nabeul, Raoued and Korba also arrested 15 people in abandoned houses. "The latter intended to illegally cross sea to Europe," the same source added.
