Africa: Over 185,000 Covid-19 Deaths Across Continent

As of August 18, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 7,333,148 while over 56,882,881 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.

Reported deaths in Africa reached 185,440 and 6,461,157 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases 2,624,254 and 77,993 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco (772,394), Tunisia (626,750),  Ethiopia (290,818), Libya (289,219) Egypt (285,577) and Kenya (222,894).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
