Africa: Over 7.8 Million Cases of Covid-19 Confirmed Across Continent

As of September 1, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 7,820,917 while over 66,777,366 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.

Reported deaths in Africa reached 196,822 and 6,960,476 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases 2,787,203 and 82,496 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco (866,968), Tunisia (666,168), Libya (310,637), Ethiopia (309,351), Egypt (288,732) and Kenya (236,881).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University  (world map)  using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
