Africa: Over 8.1 Million Cases of Covid-19 Confirmed Across Continent

As of September 16, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 8,101,211 while over  79,280,855 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.

Reported deaths in Africa reached  204,452 and  7,365,030 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases  2,869,201 and 85,469  people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco ( 910,991 ), Tunisia ( 697,421 ), Libya ( 327,803 ), Ethiopia ( 327,066 ), Egypt ( 294,482 ) and Kenya ( 244,826 ).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
