Tunisia: General Media Union Denounces Assault On Journalists

Tunis/Tunisia — The General Media Union, under the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), denounced the assault on the press team of the Watania 1 TV channel in Sunday's demonstration against the 25 measures in Tunis.

The Union said in a statement the assault equals a «declaration of war against Tunisian journalists," warning against any hate speech and inciting violence against the media.

The union also threatened to boycott any party that deliberately incites against journalists.

Aymen Haj Salem, a journalist in the news department of the Watania 1 TV channel was injured and evacuated by civil protection to hospital during the demonstration staged Sunday in the capital.
