TANZANIA has become the first country in East Africa to manufacture optic fibre cables, realising its dream to build a digital economy. It is the fourth country in African continent to invest in such production that is a huge boost for digital economy, with the plant that is in Mkuranga District, Coast region that will have an annual capacity to produce 24,000 kilometres of optic fibre.
This is a huge leap forward economically, with the economy intertwined with the traditional economy, making a clear delineation harder.
