Angola: Bruno Fernandes Listed At Basketball World Cup Race

Luanda — Houston Rockets center Bruno Fernando stands out among the 25 athletes called up for the national basketball pre-selection team, aiming at the dispute of the 2nd qualifying stage for the World Championship.

This phase will take place from the 27th of June to the 5th of July, in Ivory Coast.

The only Angolan to play in the North American National Basketball Association (NBA) was absent from Afrobasket'2021, in Rwanda, and in the first qualifying window for the 2023 World Championship due to the North American "Summer League" calendar, where he was getting acquainted by the former team, the Boston Celtics.

Among the news, we also highlight the return of power forward Sílvio Sousa, who was deprived of playing for a long time due to a lawsuit in the American court, from which he was acquitted, in August 2021.

Petro de Luanda athletes will only be called up after participating in the final phase of the African Basketball League, starting Saturday, in Rwanda.

At this stage, Angola makes its debut against Ivory Cost, following the clashes with Guinea and CAR.
