Monrovia — The Chief Executive Officer of the Liberia Water, Sanitation and Hygiene commission (WASH), Ambassador Bobby Whitfield, as head of a five-man delegation, has departed Liberia for a landmark meeting on water and sanitation in Indonesia.

The Liberian delegation also include Public Works Minister Ruth Coker-Collins, Health Minister Dr. Wilhemina Jallah, Timothy Kpeh, CSO Focus person and WASH Administrative assistant Barmon Jallah.

The team left Liberia for Jarkata, Indonesia on Sunday to form part of a two-day meeting (May 18-19) to present a case for Liberia in an effort to tackle Liberia's many water and sanitation issues.

The Liberian delegations travel to and fro is being fully funded by the government of Indonesia and the United Nations Sanitation and water for all global partnership and UNICE, according to the Mr. Whitfield.

The WASH boss over the weekend addressed the press at his commission's office prior to the trip, said the gathering is set to be the largest water and sanitation gathering to discuss a suitable way forward in handling water and sanitation issues around the world with more than 70 ministers attending.

According to him, the Liberian delegation will have three slots to address the platform to present the case for Liberia in an effort to tackle the global triple challenge (water sanitation and hygiene, climate change and economy challenge) in the WASH sector and as well solicit global support from International partners to aid Liberia ensuring a better water and sanitation for all Liberians.

"The two-day gathering in Jakarta is being held after every two years with aim to welcome leading government ministers from around the world to discuss a suitable way forward in dealing with water and sanitation issues in health, environment and the economy," he said.
