Angola: Luena to Have New Regional Military Hospital

Luena — A new Regional Military Hospital, with capacity for 100 beds, may soon be built in the city of Luena, in Moxico province, to strengthen the health system in the region.

The unit will replace the current one, built during the colonial era, which is currently in a high state of degradation.

To be built in an area of approximately 54,000 square metres, the building will have two floors and is funded by the Ministry of Defence and Homeland Veterans.

The future health unit will have several services, including surgery, obstetrics, hemodialysis, endoscopy, imaging, diagnostics, laboratory, rehabilitation and therapies, intensive care unit and hospitalisation.

The construction model of the new unit was presented this Thursday to the members of the Moxico Provincial Government and Local Government, represented by the deputy governor for the Technical area and Infrastructure, Wilson Augusto, and municipal administrator, Quintas Sempieca.

On the occasion, the deputy governor highlighted the importance of the project, which may increase the capacity to care for patients in the province.

Moxico province has four reference hospitals, namely Hospital Geral do Moxico (HGM), the Provincial Maternity, and the Municipal Hospitals of Moxico (headquarters) and Camanongue.
