Angola: Unita Opens Campaign to Support Election Activity

Luanda — A fundraising campaign was launched Wednesday (13) in Luanda by the country's larger opposition UNITA party aimed at ensuring the citizen participation in the party's challenges for the electoral campaign.

The party's leader Adalberto Costa Júnior, who opened the launch ceremony told a press conference that it was a response to the request by citizens and organisations in the sense of contributing to the project of this training aimed at the alternation of political power in the country.

He said that the fundraising is open to all interested parties, natural or legal persons, and it includes Angolans residing abroad, since there will be elections in the abroad.

Those who intends to participate in this exercise can do so through the bank accounts in the local currency (kwanza) and in dollar/euro domiciled in Credit Investment Bank (BIC).

According to the president, the party has intervention costs and the participation of citizens in this context is essential, contributing with a campaign of funds, of means, which must be well managed and comply with the normal process of accountability.

As for the readjustment to the financing of the parties' electoral campaign, carried out recently, from 444.8 million to 1.112 billion kwanzas, the official considers it insufficient, in view of the challenges and difficulties that arise from this phase of the process.

During the conference, the leader of the largest opposition party expressed his conviction in the victory in the elections on the 24th of August.
