Angola: Elections 2022 - MPLA Focusing On the Elderly

Luanda — The MPLA vice-president Luísa Damião reaffirmed Monday in Luanda her party's commitment to improving the social conditions and rights of the elderly.

Luísa Damião was speaking at the end of a socialisation meeting with the elderly at the Home for Older people's centre "Beiral", as part of the electoral campaign for the election of 24 August.

The leader referred to that the MPLA will continue to pay special attention to the elderly, creating pragmatic and realistic policies for the social protection of this group of society.

According to Luísa Damião, the grandfather is an unavoidable figure in a family and should deserve respect, as he is fundamental in the family structure.

The socialising, promoted by the MPLA, was also part of the celebrations of the World Grandparents Day, which celebrated on Tuesday (26)

Beiral was built in 1963 and has fully renovated bedrooms, leisure spaces, a cafeteria, among other facilities.

Located in the urban district of Rangel, municipality of Luanda, the institution welcomes around 112 elderly people, among men and women.
