Luanda — The MPLA leader João Lourenço returned to Luanda Wednesday (27) after chairing a mass political rally in Sumbe, coastal Cuanza Sul Province.
The political event is part of the campaign, started on 24 July and going until August 22, ahead of the general elections set for 24 August in Angola.
In his address, João Lourenço urged the MPLA militants to hold door-to-door awareness campaigns on hunt for votes for the general elections.
The general elections will take place on 24 August with the participation of seven political parties and one coalition.
This year's elections, which will see the participation of Angolans abroad, for the first time, are the fifth in Angola's history, after those of 1992, 2008, 2012 and 2017.
Roughly 14.3 million voters, of whom 22,560 residing abroad, will vote on Agust 24.
