Angola: Elections2022 - First Summary of the Fourth Day of Campaign

Luanda — The fourth day of the electoral campaign was marked by intensified activities by contestants for the general elections of 24 August, with appeals to raise awareness among the undecided voters.

The political forces across the country went out into the communities to strengthen their appeal to vote as well as to win the empathy of the undecided voters, with the dissemination of their electoral programmes and manifestos.

The PHA party advocated the creation of a ministerial department that would address children's affairs, as they are a "very vulnerable and neglected" group.

The P-NJANGO marked the day with the inauguration of the municipal headquarters in Andulo, Cunhinga and Chinguar in Bié province.

With the three new headquarters, the party led by Eduardo Jonatão "Dinho" Chingunji has nine municipal representations in Bié.

A door-to-door mobilization campaign was the UNITA activity carried out in the framework of the general elections. The action took place in Ndalatando City, Cuanza Norte Province, as well as in the districts of Tala Hady and Hoji-ya-Henda, in Luanda.

The head of the UNITA list, Adalberto Costa Júnior, led the march through the city of Huambo.

On its turn, the FNLA, during its ten-minute airtime on the Angola National Radio (RNA) station, defended the creation of an economic and social development plan to guarantee an increase in national production and the creation of new jobs.

FNLA focus is to improve the distribution of income and wealth.

The party also announced the official opening of its campaign on 2 August to take place in Mabanza Kongo capital city of Zaire province.

The CASA-CE electoral coalition candidate for Vice President of the Republic, Alexandre Sebastião André, talking to ANGOP, expressed his concern over the vulnerable people´s social conditions.

The politician stated that the strategy is part of the master plan to fight poverty, to be implemented by the coalition, if it wins the elections.

The National Patriotic Alliance (APN) redoubled its campaign actions with door-to-door contacts in Luanda.

The PRS party promised to integrate more people with disabilities in the job market. The president of the political party, Benedito Daniel, revealed that the aim of the initiative aims at social reintegration and harnessing of the disabled people's capacities.

The leader of the MPLA, João Lourenço, who chaired the rally in Sumbe, Kwanza Sul Province, urged his party´s members to carry out door-to-door campaigns in the next few days, in order to garner for votes.

In his message, during his ten-minute airtime on the RNA station, he called for greater investment in technical training for young people.

Meanwhile, for the dissemination of their election manifestos and governance programmes, each political party has 10 minutes daily on Angola National Radio (RNA) station and five minutes on Angola Public Television (TPA).
